Create your own ocean scene with fantastic undersea wall mural decals, showing life below the sea. That being said, Animal Planet has been proactive in adjusting the editorial of Wild West Alaska. The observations made in the first studies of marine biology fueled the age of discovery and exploration that followed.

Corals live in partnership with blue-green algae called zooxanthellae, that aid in skeletal formation and give the coral their colours. (The algae that causes the severe "red tides-fish kills" are also dinoflagellates and related to zooxanthellae.) These algae (dinoflagellates) are very small and provide a biological environment within which the coral can build its calcium carbonate skeleton. Please give to any charity that helps to sustain and support our oceans eco system.

This data is important to both scientists and fishermen because they are discovering that by restricting commercial fishing in one small area they can have a large impact in maintaining a healthy fish population in a much larger area. Ammonites could float and swim--and most were fierce predators with strong jaws and sharp vision. Let's find out about the plants that dwell in different depths of the sea, forming an important part of the marine ecosystem.

Built over thousands of years by tiny calcium-producing organisms, the reefs are a haven for countless thousands of life forms, some of which seem totally alien in form. Found a jaw bone at the beach and can't identify it. To remain buoyant, the flesh of the blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming.

In the Red Sea, the main threats to sea turtles come from irresponsible coastal development that destroys nesting beaches and feeding grounds such as sea-grass beds and coral reefs; artificial lighting on main nesting beaches that disorients both nesting turtles and hatchlings; garbage and plastic bags which could be ingested by mistake by turtles and will provoke a slow and painful death; pollution in the water that is often associated with diseases like the fibropapilloma tumor; irresponsible anchoring that destroys both sea-grass beds and coral reefs; high speed boats and jet-skis that can seriously wound sea turtles and cause their death; incidental fishing in particular in industrial trawlers and purse seines.
